I would have to say Mel Ramos. His mastering of the female body and his use of commercial articats really makes his art very pleasent to the eye. One of many great painters still living today.
Enjoy

i saw this show at the SF moma and i fell in love. http://www.sfmoma.org/richter/
my new favourite = Gerhard Richter

I'll second the Gerhard Richter. His use of layers is truly remarkable, not to mention the colors. The books of his work are excellent, as well. I don't have the new one, but most of the others.
Great stuff, some of the most inspirational I've seen.

i wasnt such a huge fan until i saw it in person. some of his stuff is so realistic it looks like a photo.. and then he can do the most abstract stuff ever. hes got an amazing spectrum of talents.
and hes still living. still painting.

Shag -- he goes by one name and his works are retro cool
http://www.shag.comI also like Gerhard Richter--the photographic paintings and not the abstract stuff. Wish I went up to San Francisco to see his works.

Honestly...my Kid. She's only 13, and puts out some great stuff.
My only worry is that she wants to be "just like" Frida when she grows up.
