hi, i wonder what you consider some of the most visually arresting art around? i think the japanese and chinese have some really good shit. mariko mori, tomoko takahashi, murakami, cai-que-qong (chinese fireworks). and of course there's Barney in the west...expand the list please.

Comics...the fusion of words and pictures. Not just individual artists, writers, colourists but the medium as a whole.
Notable mentions, WATCHMEN (Alan Moore+Dave Gibbons), The Incal (Moebius+Jodorowsky), The Spirit (Wil Eisner)...

my work will visually arrest you.
then it will make you its visual bitch.
then it will gang-rape your visual anus.
(on a more serious note, i will look thru my bookmarks and post if i find something worth mention.)

hey how about some links for those of us that aren't quite so hip to contemporary asian art??
I looked for tomoko takahashi and I got http://www.soka.edu/calabasas/ta…
...murakami ? The author? I guess his writing is pretty visual, but that's probably not what you mean...

yeah matthew barney rules my crotch
i recommend a few earlier decadent artists like aubrey beardsley, einrich fuseli, hyeronymus bosch, felicien rops, and even william blake....amazing imaginations these dudes had & also big influences to surrealism & other cool ass shit
