Did anyone else make it over the weekend? Saturday was a great night and a brilliant venue. the boys were in top form.

I didn't go on the weekend but saw then on Thursday.
It was superb!
They were cool. Real people. They looked genuinely happy to be there.
Its just....
beautiful.

I agree, I think the good feeling came from the fact they were loving it themselves.
good people doing good things...left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.until I tried to get my coat back from the cloakroom at the Forum!

They were shite in Edinburgh, a week past Sunday.....3 Hours of standing about waiting with no support act...then they come on and play for 1 1/2 hours (times two people = 3 hours) at a cost of £12 a head.....
I saw James Brown 2 years back (a bit more of a "star" than lemonjelly.....) on stage with 19 others for 3 hours (60 hours of musician's time) with a supoprt act beforehand and it cost £20
which one was good value??
I know!

don´t have a clue of what you´re taklin´about.
But peel a lemon, soak it in 2 cuprs of water overnight, add 200 grams og sucker, boil it all into 2/3, put it a steril jar and you got the best Lemon Marmelade in the world.
- MX_OnD0
and you'd have a better time making jam than being ripped off by a über trendy pop group......
cheers for the recipe JagdPanther!

You obviously didn't have Bingo on your evening.
- MX_OnD0
Yeah we did.....
but to be honest if I want to play bngo I'll go to a bingo hall not to a concert......
me I like music at concerts and plenty of it.... no amount of bingo or balloons or gimmicky shite (or over priced "T-shirts-on-sale-in-the-foyer-b... will make up for that....

i once waited 1 1/2 hrs for fuckin' guns n' roses.
:)

thought about going to see them in edinburgh too.. glad i didnt.. i think..
bingo? f*ck that!
- rory0
Surely you would have an idea of what sort of thing you're expecting before you pay your precious £12 for a concert.
I'm not talking about waiting.
But if you buy concert tickets for Satan'sArmpit then you know you're gonna have moshpits and screaming. If you go to Lemon Jelly you're not going to have a 10 piece band with instrument-smashing at the end...
sometimes it boggles...
- rory0
surely if the band's latest single has the chorus "all the ducks are swimming in the water"... you would expect their 'gimmicks'?
- unknown0
MX_ond - You should go and see The Polyphonic Spree for value for money then ?!?
- MX_OnD0
If an event is being sold as a concert I expect music. Simple as that.... the comparison to the James Brown concert was to put things into some perspective...
Whereas for JB £20 got you a support act followed by 3 hours of JB and another 19 musicians
So £20 got you 60 hours worth of musician's time....LemonJelly on the otherhand see fit to leave you waiting without a support act AND only play for an hour and a half AND charge you £12 for the pleasure...AND there's only 2 of them....
"surely if the band's latest single has the chorus "all the ducks are swimming in the water"... you would expect their 'gimmicks'?"
No not at all........
JB did a tune called "For goodness sakes just look at those cakes" - I neither expected nor got any cake at his concert.
You're evidently a fan rory and if you enjoy that then fine - me I feel ripped off. END OF STORY.

Engage, enlighten me?
- rory0
MX_OnD:
Fair enough. I mean we're arguing opinions here.
But you can't really work out value vs. band members. Also comparing JB and LJ isn't really fair. I know you specifically refer to the price.
Like I said, waiting around is shite.
My point is... you could have found out there were only two of them in the band. Maybe you wouldn't have wasted your money.
- MX_OnD0
rory:
true, I know how upset I'd be if someone was slating JB!!
I did know there were only two of them... just I would have rather listened to some local band before instead of getting a bingo ticket and a pencil.
Anyway the main thing is that music brings joy to people. Different tunes for different lunes or something like that.....
;¬)
- rory0
Also... when I referred to the lyrics, I was more referring to the type of song. With a band that has electronic music and songs in the style of "nice weather for ducks" ... their concert isn't going to be a rock concert.
I'm not having a go at you, MX_OnD, just saying it helps if you know what you're going to spend your money on.
- rory0
I hear you.
- rory0
I went to a Lenny Kravitz concert once (stadium):
Many of the crowd were expecting American Woman played as repeatedly as MTV would.
When he loomed of into guitar solos and and some self indulgence, those pop fans got a bit cheesed.
I understand where they were coming form. But if they had bothered listening to anything more than their top40 radio station, they might have seen it coming.
know what I mean?
- MX_OnD0
sound brother!
peace to you and the bands you like!
