Help! I've imported into flash a small arrow that I created in Pshop (with the pencil tool). It gets all distorted when I view the movie! I even unchecked the smooth box.
???

1) If it's small make it a lossless PNG
2) Wherever you positiion it, make sure it's X and Y are on an integer... I.E 1.0 not 1.3
3) If you're cutting and pasting it... might need to add an bit of extra background around it... as they tend to shift.

also, if it's distorting when other things move you can put it inside a MC and make the MC alpha 99%

that 99% is a pain in the arse isn't it!

Sometimes it's best if you make the image the right size in PS rather than resizing in Flash.
Also if you are getting shifting or it isn't lining up properly try making it 99% transparent.

woops i guess you got the 99% hint already!

Great. Thanks guys. I'm gonna try these suggestions.

you need a 1- pixel transparent border all the way round the edge of your gif. When you make it a symbol in flash, ensure that the x and y are set at 0.1 rather than 0. If you do this the image will not shift or distort.

Maybe you should try vectorizing it. Should work better it it's just a small simple arrow.
Modify/trace bitmap
(curve fit: pixels)
