How do I get a sound to play on mouseover without it opening an external player (like realplayer etc.)? Oh, and without using flash!

Not sure it can be done. Ive never seen it done with JS.
Obviously Flash does.

doesn't work for me either. Can't believe how fuckin difficult this has turned out to be! All I want to do is play a simple wav on rollover. SURELY html/javascript can manage that!

Easiest things are often the hardest, I am pretty sure that code works at least for PC, they dont submit things that dont work on that site.
Make sure you have got the wav inside the same folder as you HTMl file and with the correct name.
Keep trying it.

Whats the reason against flash? If people haven't got it you just put a gif there instead... and most people will have the level of flash you'll need to make a 'beep'
