I think people on here overhyped that piece. It was cool, but it didn't blow my mind. You talked about how everyone's whoring logos, but all I saw was people wearing black jackets that you said were from the Gap.
I thought the part at the starting was cool with the shoes, but half the shoes that went by are just normal black shoes, no logos.
At one point you were counting hats, sweaters, pants, jackets, etc. Is this to say we should all be nude?
Most of the clothing from the brands you highlighted do not have big striking logos, or even logos at all on them, so how are these people advertising.
The only time the video was really on was when you showed the bags. People carrying bags with logos are walking advertisements.
I think it's a good concept, but you really should've found people who wear more logos.
By the way, the Lounge site is nice.

I think the reason why they didn't get too many logo t shirts because it's freakin cold in Toronto. As I remembered, they did the video shoot on a weekday too.
The mall is located in the heart of downtown Toronto, so many of the people are probably on there lunch break. So that would explain all the black attire.
I think they did a great job! Don't knock our Canadian talents!

i think everyone knows about wearing advertisements and all so i wasnt so impressed with the video. as it was all based on a concept that i think is rather obvious. honestly, my reaction viewing that piece was "no shit"

holla son!

hollason, congratulations

what i meant was, lots of things that go on in our society are pretty blatantly obvious.. consumerism is one of these things...
doesn't make the concept any weaker imho
- hollason0
holla back youngn!
ok just my opinion but the video didnt have anything else to go on but the concept. they didnt pay much or spend much time on the visual, im assuming on purpose to focus more on the concept. but the problem with that is the concept isnt strong or innovative enought to stand by itself. maybe a more creative way to approach the concept would be better. for example, the thetruth campaigns that focus on the negatives of the tobacco uindustry and smoking. if they were to just show a old guy smoking and show a black scren and say dont smoke its bad for you ppl would just ignore it because its like "duh common sense we already know that but we dont care" but they get they try to get the message across in a different way. errr ok bad example. i guess what im trying to say is that the concept isnt strong enough to focus on by itself and that it needed something else. ok im bad with words but i just didnt get any emotion from that video. no offense tho im jjust stating my opinion. yea u want to make ppl aware of this issue but is it a issue? i mean its just the way it is. ppl will make stuff and ppl will put their name son it. some ppl mite make their names bigger and some might not care. and this goes with everything. if you design a poster or a clothng your gonna put ur tag on it. im sure the clothing designers made their clothes and just wanted to put their names on it. not for the purpose of advertising but more for credit and prolly somethign to design around also. it just happens that it comes out as a advertising tool. but thats just with everything. i hope i make sense. im bad with putting my thoughts into words. i guess thats wat school is for.

i see what you're saying.. i guess i just disagree
i thought the whole thing was on point.
thanks for the in-depth response and feedback
- Carty0
my eyes... MY EYES!!! so much positive feedback from this piece sure would make some feel like its over hyped...
just having the balls to put something out there, so open for rippin takes confidence in the final product... we are all visual... we all create something from nothing... to get the positive feedback from atl was wicked...
concept an idea, execute, edit and post... im sure peeps would love to see your take on the state of the world.
- hollason0
dude not everyone is gonna like what you do. im not knocking the effort or anything. im just saying i aint feeling it and telling you why. dont get so pissy about it., if you are that is.
its like you go watch a movie and then u say oh it sucks. and the director tells you oh yea well it takes alot of guts and time to make a movie and put it out there for ppl to watch and critique. lets see u go think of a idea and make a movie.
r u feelin me?
- Carty0
lmao. its bd4d and its 3 minutes. its for you to take or leave...
you should look into being a critic though... you seem happy at this. the public making shit non profit for you to tear apart. for a better tomorrow.
- hollason0
? so what are you trying to say? that i have no right to not like it? you did post it up and wanted feedback on it rite. all im saying is i dont liek that piece thats all. am i being rude or something? ahh dont make me the bad guy becuase im really a nice person. =)
- shant0
hollason, i agree with you. it seems constructive criticism nowadays is immediately taken as "hating".
- IloveQBN0
Well, I have to agree with shant and H. Criticism is only good if you hear the true opinions from your peers. Negative crits are better as it will help you grow as a designer/photographer. It's not an attempt to bring you down.
Anyone who went through art school should know how to give and take criticism, it's a part of being an artist. If you can't take the criticism then you are in the wrong profession my friend.
I'm not being negative, but you are often putting your work up on PV-AN for us to see, in life not everyone is going to kiss ass and praise your work. So don't take offense when you hear different opinions.
- Carty0
still here... still lovingQBN :]
- IloveQBN0
now you think I'm a bitch :-)
Lounge site is fuckin dope!
- kovert0
Yo for me it was so strong because of the way you deliverd the concept. I totally get off on information design and I thought it was deleivered in a sleek sexy way.
Bottom line I watched it, I smiled, it worked for me. No need to over analyze it.
