hey i wanted to use the lovely 9pt geneva on a flash file but i ran into problems and it blurred the heck out of it every time (it was on a #.0 etc) then I just assumed perhaps because its not a specific pixel font really, anyway I made the text i wanted into gifs and imported them, everything was lined up on point zeros of the grid and it looked fine in flash itself but when its in any player it just blurs the images, even in low quality it messes them up, I thought it might be a problem with gifs i heard there was a bug but it did the same with png :/ any suggestions?

i used gifs all the tim in flash. all you need to do is have a clear 1px border around the whole image and that will automatically fix the problem. try it.
now you can have gifs with dotted lines or i px wide lines and they wont blur as long as you have that transparent border around it.

it'll work. i had the same problem.
also there's the jpg shifting phenomenon you can fix by alfa-ing it by 99% or when you fade a jpg up go from 1% to 99% and the image wont jump a pixel.
its weird.

this may sound really obvious, but Library, click on the source image and make sure it's on PNG/Lossless and uncheck Smoothing.
i use PNGs now more than Gifs, you can use transparencies on 24bit PNGs too, which is dope.
never had a problem with Gifs or PNGs for that matter if they're set to Lossless in the Library.
all the mentioned remedies above also do good things. the 1px transparent pixel thing is key when you've got stuff on the edges that's not a solid color.
