okay I have never used this program and everyone says how horrible it is.
people at my work have asked me to use it but I say no because it is evil
they ask why it is evil but i don't know. so why is it so bad?

just put it this way. i don't think they make it anymore. it was replaced by indesign.

i think they do still make it. I remember thinking how stupid it was to do so when InDesign and Quark far surpass it.

oh they have it here at my work and I need some serious reasons why it sucks to convice them to not make me use it!!! hehe

Pagemaker uses its own postscript language. Printers hate it. Causes *TONS* of postscript errors.
Files are easily corrupted and unrecoverable. Saving files too many times corrupts them!
Text blows.
Not a good program at all. I know because I'm using it right now!

haha - thanks gorbie.
keep them coming

i can tell you from a print house, we HATE it, i mean really.. it smells funny, is a terrible dresser, and always ruins a good party...
seriously, if you want to KNOW the final product is going to go to press smoothly, don't use it!

ps- gorbie already just about nailed it

I think the fact that printers hate it is reason enough. Contact your printer (if you're doing work for print) and get their opinion. I'm sure they'll agree.
As for me, I hate it as well. Not a particularly easy program to work your way around. Crashed constantly on me, too. I'm a Freehand man, which is a program that's showing up on more and more printers program lists, thank god. Freehand has it's issues, too, but it's so damned easy to use.
