hello! i am new to this site.
i have a client who made a pretty challenging request. we are developing a Flash MX based CDRom, and they would like Flash to place a cookie on the users computer, that tailors the users experience on the website based on what was completed on the CD ROM. make sense? any suggestions?

mx's new shared objects might be your answer

thankyou. i have been looking at shared objects as a possible solution, but the website is not Flash based, just the CDROM. I need to pass info to the users HD that will tailor the user's experience on the HTML site ie. "you have completed 3 levels of the course, you start here"

it shouldnt matter if the flash is running from CD-ROM
this should help...
http://www.macromedia.com/desdev…your just going to need to figure out how to read the shared object from the html

Unless the flash presentation lives inside a browser, you won't be able to create a cookie.

i have actually just downloaded the source for moock's address book. it should help, i'm just not sure if this SO is compatible with HTML. this type of thing is completely new to me (but i like the challenge).
thanks

thats not true elgatomalo.
Flash's shared objects should work from a projector or swf (they are technically not browser cookies)
