were you using Transmit or Fetch as your FTP client? I have experienced major problems like that in the past wiht these two ftp apps.

I must say overall that the BBEdit/DW combo is absolutely wonderful. I develop and design on a daily basis and it makes everything move smoothly for me between coding for my db work and laying out my sites and style sheets.

I'm always sooo weary of those built in ftp and site funcions of BBEdit and DW because of freak things like this.
My advice, buy copy of Interarchy and try it that way. See if you still have the problem. Otherwise I am not sure. Although did you have the document open in DW and BBEdit at the same time? If so, perhaps you deleted something by accident and saved it thus refreshing the document in the other app?

try a different client, cute ftp or transmit if on a mac. only a couple min to download. possibly a qiuck solution, try it

save the doc in bbedit, open in dw, ftp through dw if ya like... you shouldn't thave an issue... just add the .html or whatever extension in bbedits save dialog...

bonseff, i am on a mac OSX.2.4...only a couple minute download?..what would you recommend and where can i get it?..thanks....

this is a side note but does anyone else ever use the CMD-J combo to open straight to BBEdit from their ftp client? I have been doing it for years and was wondering if anyone else knew about it.
Try it yourself: select the html file in your ftp client that you want to open but don't double click it, then press CMD-J. Voila!! The html file should open directly in BBEdit.

there s a slew of ftp clients here

you guys are smoking crack. the FTP through DW is a godsend.
synchronization anyone?
been using DW since version 2 and haven't had any problems with losing data.
oh wait.. you're on a Mac. there's your problem. :)

Crack is good
I only started using DW with the MX version. Before that, Homesite.
The ftp in DWMX is excellent. But he could be using a different version...

don't know if this helps.. but the copy and paste function sometimes doesn't work properly when copying through line breaks... i've had it happen in my email client... best bet is to trouble shoot.. open up another text editor and see if it all pastes into there okay, if it doesn't, you know your problem isn't with dreamweaver. well you get the idea

damn, i need to read all the way down before i post... there is nothing wrong with the ftp function in dreamweaver... i've been using it since version 2 on mac and windows and have never had one problem with it. the one problem i have had is on my windows machine at work every few months or so it wipes out all ftp bookmark thingys i have saved on it. now i back those up on my windows machine. i think your problem was probably more with how you were copying and pasting and not with the programs you were using.
