G4 Freeze

Has anyone had any experience of their G4 freezing/pausing for a second or two every 10mins?
Is it trying to do an auto-backup or something? Can I turn it off as it's really starting to p' me off!!
I'm working on a G4 Quicksilver, the last ones before the dual processor machines. Is there a known problem with them?

my mouse and keyboard quite often freeze up...
i have to swap over the USB ports on the back...
which is a pain...

There was a virus that used to make Mac’s Freeze for about 30 seconds.
I cant remember, but I think it was associated with Quicktime and the Autoplay option.
That was for OS9, dont know if its made its way to X
