just curious... when doing personal projects do you think you tend to go more artsy or more tech? personally, it depends on my mood, but alot of the people i work with seem to be stuck on one or the other.

Depends. Anything I do on the computer is usually tech related.
But, if I'm fooling with paint, screen printing or doing some furniture/architecture work then it tends to be more artsy...

It depends what gives you more satisfaction. Its nearly impossible to be brilliant at both so its unlikely you concentrate on the weaker one.
Its a bit of a weird Q, what is it that you want to know? Are you unsure about what you want to do?

nah... just wondering. i usually come up with two mockups on designs. one sort of teched out and pixely, the other sort of loose and artsy. i seem to be better with the techy stuff though. was just sitting here wondering if anyone else goes through the same sort of process.

Nope, I design first, then put on my tech specs.

But you way sounds good too.
I find think too much about technical restraints whilst designing can hamper design.
Design with "in a perfect world" mentality and then compromise afterwards if you have to.

my biggest problem is coming up with designs that have no easy way of getting bigger. for instance after i come up with a design... it seems almost immediately i have some other thing i want to add to it. but to get it to fit, and look right i have to spend forever rearranging things to make them flow like before. if i could come up with one design where i could just drop something in where ever and not disturb the overall flow... i'd be a happy man
