I often preached usability/accessability and was pro-xhtml for the most part, and css and very much against pop-ups....
but now I am in doubt___
as I finally decided to do my folio-site in Flash in a popup to use the space to it's maximum...
Now I am sooo much in contradiction with myself...
I have been on client hunting lately (especially those in the government/noncommercial area, but noticed even they spend little money in the current slowdown),
I noticed most clients don't give a damn about valid xhtml/css and usability.... :(But I need to make some Euro's_
So I am thinking of Flash with some blingbling fx to just "sell" my shit___
hmmm......
oh well.
is it really about the eye-candy after all?
any thoughts?

Hate to tell you but if your going to do .gov work you will need to be in compliance to some degree. There are certain restrictions on plugins as well depending on the agency you are contracted with.

most clients ive dealt with lately seem to think the fact that the site looks good to them, or works properly for them, is a lot more important than the public opinion.
when i raised the issue of 800x600 monitor resolutions at a meeting a while back i was told that it was ok to go larger because everyone in their office used 1024x768.
