in the 80's when every person had a pair of either chucks, vans or airwalks, there wasnt as much competition, nowadays i couldnt count how many shoe cos there are, specially for the industry - sport / sk8ing, i think trying something different is a great approach for marketing, reinventing and luring a new generation

there's skating culture, and there's skating fashion culture. and i'll bet the compnies of the latter are making more money.

Airwark is the dead fish swimming in circels on the side in the aquarium!!
Could they pick a better person to try bringing it back to life?
I say No!

skating fashion culture is always on the heals of real skate culture, and always one step behind.

but it's also more acessible. count the number of dcshoe co t shirts you see to something like autobahn or silver trucks.

Exactly
I feel airwalk's new web prescense is inaccessible to its target demographic, especially if that new demographic is the new generation who may not remember airwalk.

"I don't find that website particularily useable".
I've obvisouly missed a whole argument somewhere, so I'll leave it at that.

i still like it.
i lvoe the general feel, and even found the shoes really quickly.
the navigational layout is embedded in a playful and engaging environment but still clear and easy to browse through.
i did not have my sound on so i cannot say anything about the music. could be the only letdown, i am not sure.
one of the things i like most of this sort of flash that it is great to look at but efficiently built, very lightweight, it reminds me of the works by Group94 and Engage.
As opposed to the Metroid site by 2A which was once again waaaay to heavy (it froze my browser again and again) and did not catch my interest because it lacks the fine balance in user-friendliness and entertainment value. With the emphasis on it's "weight".
Airwalk loads quick, navigates easy (no beachball on my desktop here because of heavy fx) but still (imho) a very attractive site to visit.
