Next month I am due a pay rise. I've been working now for the same company for over 3yrs. I started as a junior, and am now at middleweight, working on a wide range of projects from Web, corporate Id, brochure, annual reports, advertising etc, etc.
So basically I'd like to know what you all think I should be looking for in terms of salary. Mega bucks or peanuts?
We're based in South Wales, UK if it's any help!

I could give you a guess of London prices, cut that down a bit because you live in Wales, dont take it personally though.
London 26K
S.Wales £26

You'll all want to come and work in Wales once London get's blown up!!!
Seriously though, what's the average? I was thinking of something in the region of 19-20K.

what are you on per annum right now? Take 6-8% of that and that would be a normal pay rise - have you had any over the past 3 years? If not - double it.

well, if that's the norm I guess I'd better start looking for some sidelines!!! Any suggestion's, short of selling my body and vital organs!!!
I was planning on buying a house this year and starting to settle down... so need the xtra cash!

huw bach, that's why i had to leave to london!
i'd set your sites on 20-24k tops, all depends on how well the company's doingwhere do you work and who for by the way? not brazil is it?

i read some good advice a while back. someone said never under any circumstances answer if they ask what kind of raise you were thinking of. ask what they're thinking, then if you're not happy with it just say "sounds a bit low" and wait for them to justify.

Clementino:
I don't work for Brazil, but I've got a mate who does!
We've been doing pretty well lately, loads of new business and been really busy over the last 6-12 months. So I'm hoping for a nice little raise! If not, would anyone suggest moving on to pastures new??
I enjoy my job, it's just sometimes the workload and stress isn't reflected in my pay packet!!!

huw check out bath and bristol, seems as though a lot of it's spreading along the m4 corridor.
do a search for agencies. i'm thinking of there too, cheaper, good social life, plenty more jobs, and friendlier with a smaller scene. the money's catching up with london. you won't get fuck all better in south wales mate.
you could try elf design

Huw, what company do you work for in South Wales?

Huw I went through exactly this about a couple months ago, starting as a junior and now working middleweight. I work near brighton (not IN brighton, that's the important bit) and I got old salary+2.5k for my sins.
