I am working on a video production companies website. I have the launcher paged finished and wanted some feedback.
Please let me know what you think. I have plenty of time and creative freedom with this project so any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

oh.

then... I'd say put caps on the site requirements... ie Internet Explorer not internet explorer. Adds to the formality of the site.

i liked it. like the style, works well if you can pull it off.
but you keep typing "FRESH!" at the end of all your posts. something must be wrong with your keyboard.

nice start, will the site be as dark?... is there a need to do a pop-up or is it a visual aid or for a specific reason? could be interested in seeing it embedded vs. pop-up [incase viewer turns off pop-up windows in browser]... another option is to have a smart sniffer instead of giving them a choice, just some thoughts...

the site is supposed to give a cinematic experience. I am thinking of taking over the entire window area. Not sure yet.
The launcher can do without the pop up. It is a lot darker on pc then on my mac. I will have to adjust that.
The site will not have tons of content from the jump, but will have good content.
I am leaning towards the full window experience ala heavy. Difference being it will still work well on 56k modems. Or maybe I will just design at 1024 x 768.
Not sure, although this project is going to be pretty sweet!!!

don't do it man. no full screen for the love of my mom! don't do it.
- freshmode0
you say don't do it because it has been done already by many designers and it isn't for every audience.
But in this case, I want to grab complete attention from the viewers. Give them a movie going experience. Something that will hold them.
I think, if done correctly, it can work well. And it shall....
I will let you know if I will do it or not. Until then...
GRAB ANKLE!!!!

ahh, okay, maybe think about making the pop-up in 16:9 proportion - 854x480 or scaled up from there, that might help with the cinematic feel, looks good so far...
- lvl_thirteen0
yeah, i agree with robotron. that is a really good idea and i think it will be even more effective than fullscreen. and also makes a lot of sense.
- freshmode0
robo... that is a good idea.
That might actualy work better.
But do you think the people will know that it is in 16:9 format?

Well, I wouldn't say that people don't like fullscreen popups because their "trendy". More so because they are somewhat obtrusive and obnoxious. Most people like being able to change windows, use IM, etc while surfing the web. Fullscreen windows of sites restrict a person's ability to do that and inevitably piss them off. That or I'm completely wrong.
