Interactive Coffee Table

I'm using my Saturday, trying to do something productive so I've decided to fix my coffee table. Right now it's a piece of 38" x 38" plywood. I'm gonna go to Home Depot and buy a bunch of 1" black and 1" white tiles, and use them as pixels to cover the top of the coffee table.
Here's where it gets interactive. I have a few ideas, but nothing I'm really sold on.
So if you've got some time and an idea, post a 38 x 38 black and white pixel picture that would become the top of my coffee table. Maybe I'll end up using yours.
Either way, I'll post the pic when I'm done.

i do most of my work using 1 x 1 but 38 x 38 seems too big for me....

There is the possibility of 2" x 2" tiles as well as 4" x 4" so it's up to you.

space invaders is cool too, but theres already that artist who does those in tile so he's kinda got that on lock.

Why dont you make it so as that anyone that comes to visit can design theyre own.
Basically dont glue anything in place, maybe just make grooves so as the tiles will fit in nice and snug but they can me moved around at will

sexypixel: i was thinking of that too. i just got back from home depot, and i bought plastic tile spacers. i'm going to see if i can just glue those down, and then put all the tiles in places.
maybe some velcro under the tiles would help.

i dig the create your own idea. interesting enough, i designed a coffee table and end table while being bored out of my mind at my girlfriends parents for thanksgiving. my dad just so happened to know a guy that liked to make furniture and well. here they are:

thanks! took about a week to paint the coffee table and both endtables....2 coats of primer and 4 coats of paint. they were made out of russian birch plywood. the legs are sprayed with silver metallic.
