I've had my google searches hijacked... I mean when I search google.. from google dot com.. a little frame pops up and changes the results... Ive found the source in my cache and located an ip it looks up but I dont want to publish its address as itll probably infect other peoples computers.
I'm not an unexperienced web user and I've honestly tried all I know.. Resetting to defaults, deleting components, deleting all my cache manually, using adaware.. it just happened last night! and it wont go away.. Its really lame. I have a system restore from the night before but I want to get to the bottom of this.. please help if you have any knowledge leading to its extraction.

try a program called Ad-aware if you dont already have it ..

I had tried adaware yard.. to no avail. Ive just fixed the problem though.
This particular exploit I found was called browser hijacking and it was through running
http://spybot.eon.net.au/that I found how many other things had found their way into my registry settings. Get it and run it.. its a lifesaver.

for about six months now i've been using the web from home with ie set to prompt before running plugins, etc. it's marginally annoying at first, having to click 'yes' a couple of times just to use newstoday, but i was surprised at how many popups and stuff like that running from every day sites try to mess with your computer, and invariably any site to do with security/hacks/etc other than the very biggest will have some kind of crap in it.
i also use sh0rtie's excellent hosts file available from:
