33,
one more thing, you've really got the right philosophy at your age too, "Keep it simple, let the viewer decide on what they perceive."
that is key. if we're successful in our design, they will put it together and BAM there it is!
we study the legends in graphic design (20th century) like Saul Bass, Paul Rand cause they were ingenius communicators using simple shape, type, color to express concepts and ideas. too many young designers (myself included) focus on the 'hot' style of the moment, when graphic design is about communicating.

ok, one more:
don't be the type of kid who thinks design skill comes from examining design sites. get the fundemental books, typography, color theory, history of GD, all that stuff. you'll gain more from studying why good design is good, than trying to imitate it.

actually there is room for everybody
design is still a matter of personal taste
how many of you like a kind of movie or style of music that all your friends hate? all of us and it sure doesn't mean our friends don't know shit
so keep designing till your wheels fall off

i think it doesn't matter. your work's good or not. the most importance thing is if this is what you love to do (design or art). then you should keep doing it and learn from other. i believe in learning, and it will help you do your work better.
i heard alot of my friends who's doing a design also. and their work suck. they always complain about it. but i never seen them keep doing design. but whenever they have a free time. they just go do something else.
if the artist does not practice how to draw a hand, and how can he or she can draw a perfect hand?

Makes me rethink the process of observing fellow designers work.

Well dude - you channel all those feelings into some positive energy...and instead of envying them....you strive and work damn fucking hard to BE as good as them...
simple as that. Think positive...be positive...and experiement...

keep in mind that if you work hard at it, in time that's how good you will be, those guys didn't just pick up PS or Flash or whatever last week, you're looking at years and years of hard work.

It's good that you are moved by other peoples' work. It means you are passionate which is the most important thing if you want to be good at what you do.
But be careful of being too critical of your own work when you are starting out, or taking to heart other peoples' criticisms, however well intentioned.
It's important to experiment and try new things, and if you are too scared to do this because you are trying to live up to others' expectations, you'll cripple yourself. Get some stakes in the ground, they don't have to be perfect but you will build on these over time.
Anything worth doing is difficult - but persevere and the sky is the limit!
