I broke my wrist I use to make my living with. I have a cast from my knuckles to my elbow making impossible to hold a mouse. I still need to design as I work full time and freelance after hours. share your ideas and/ or past experiences as to what I should do.

hire a monkey... or... possibly a midget to run the mouse.
right on!

tape your mouse to the bottom of your cast. smash down when mouse needs to be clicked. so primitive it just might work.

robots
mind control
use your penis to click mouse once mouse is superglued to cast.... be carefull not to superglue your penis to your mouse though. bad news.... i know.

yeah i was thinking velcro on the cast. i could have all kinds of attachments ie. fork, coffee cup. etc... (kinda robotic) has anyone used a trackball mouse?

Ive used trackballs in the past. Try that or try to use your other hand on the mouse. Im sure it might take a while but you shoudl get used to it.

there is also this crazy piece of software i saw on the web, it uses your desktop camera, you point it at yourself, it tracks your eye movements for the curser, to double click you blink your eyes.. crazy huh?, sorry i cant seem to find it at the moment but i'll try looking... it's pc only i believe...

Use your Jedi mind tricks.
May the force be with you.

weren't there mouthpieces made awhile back that you could use as a mouse by using the tip of your tongue?

tablet! unless you can't hold the pen...
my friend broke her wrist snowboarding on new year's eve. she just got her hard cast off. it sux.

if you can hold a fat pencil like object, get a wacom drawing tablet. a lot of people think they are just for drawing but you can use it as mouse alternative as well, it takes some practice, but I know some people that use the tablet instead of a mouse now.
but if you don't go for that then I would recommend the midget.

get a tablet, the casting around the fingers should allow some movements, enough to hold a pen.
might as well get used to one while you have the chance anyways - the ergonomics in a pen are more natural than having your wrist twisted over a mouse.

my best peripheral for the Mac ___EVER!

use your other hand, if youve got a couple fingers popping out of your cast you could use them to hit keyboard shortcuts.

my thumb is upright, so it would take a big 'ol pen to write with. I'm gonna hit up an office suply store after work and check out some trackball's otherwise it's left hand. hope my clients understand when i give them something that looks like a 2 yr did.
