i would expect more from MT
i like their http://MediaTemple.com and http://www.madmerch.com/ sites better... .net is a let down for me.

ok, I guess I'm just stupid, but I can't find a drop down menu at all. I'm on IE and Safari on MAC osX...
Is it in the menu bar? Strange!
- ok_jason0
Yeah. I had the same issue. Try Mozilla if you are on osX like me. Basically they are setting the transparency via IE filter and moz-opacity ala CSS.
pretty cool but nothing new at all.
- Xentic0
cool, thanks. I''ll try Mozilla.
- slinky0
much better on Win. XP than Mac

why does a hosting company have an unprotected directory?
http://www.mediatemple.net/_imag…
i just downloaded a few of the header images and one of the PSd files, navigated around other directories as well. not good.

That menu is the shit, i think they should have dumped everything else except the menu, that menu is fun, i've never seen js work so much like flash... enough talk, i'm going to scroll back and fourth over that W factor for a while

damn...some of you people are brutal! wtf? what happened in this community? You know, we honestly wanted to get into this line of work because we sincerely appreciate the art that this community gives. I can still remember the first time I saw sites like Derbaur, K10K, and others...It got me excited to be involved in this whole hosting business....because it's not what I thought I would be doing. I love music. That's what I wanted to get into. The music industry. But I am a designer at heart. I started getting more into the business side of the industry. But I love art...the whole creative process. There was a time that people respected what (mt) was doing in the community. Now it seems very jaded and negative. Perhaps because of the fallout of the .dot bomb. But (mt) is honestly in this industry because we believe in it. Atleast for me. Just because it has allowed us to survive and succeed where others have failed...it seems people can't handle that. Whatever. Take it or leave it...This new hosting site goes far beyond the simple design elements that are being critiqued here in this thread. We are moving rapidly towards offering the usability and behind the scenes support and functionality that is has made us a full blown 24/7 full service web hosting company. We certainly welcome criticism..it only helps us to fine tune our company to better serve our client base...but come on...
Whatever....we're gonna keep doing what we're doing! Like it or not...(mt) is here to change the way people percieve hosting companies. There are a lot of new "companies" out there that are trying to replicate what we have done...but it is just a copy...we see them come and we see them go...(mt) is here for the long haul and we continue day after day to support not only this forum but some of the most innovative and creative designers on the internet today!
Enjoy! and be Happy!

Justice,
I personally have a lot of respect for (mt) as a company, and I DO appreciate what you guys have done for the web design community. However, I can't tell you whether I share or not some of the opinions expressed here because the site doesn't display properly on my machine. I'm on a mac using OS 9.1 and IE5.
I must say this though: I can't stress the importance of testing a site in different platforms and browsers. At least the main ones. When a site doesn't cater to my set up, it gives me the impression that the company or person who designed the site, didn't care much about me seeing it, since the made a conscious decision to ignore anyone using a Mac.

mt is so badass, i'm quivering with fear.

- justice0
Don't be scared Sapphire. It's only webhosting...:) We don't want you to duct tape your windows...
