BBC News redesign up

Well, there you go... It's up, so what do you think? Personally I think it's OK... It's easier on the eye than the terrible design they premiered in the cricket section, but I still much preferred the old design.
It's true the pages aren't so deep now... But I loved the way it was structured on the page before...
Any thoughts?

The news stories pages seem alright.. The right had column has been quite professionally 'finished' but they've taking all the coloured boxes out of it... It's easier on the eye, but harder to locate info.
The frontpage is a bit of a visual disaster.

much harder to locate info..I dunno - I think I need to spend a few more days with it before I say anything else...but why try to re-invent the wheel?

I guess they made the big decision to move up to 800 by 600 and took on a redesign at the same time... I think I'll get used to the story pages and prefer them in the end...but some subtle colouring on the right would help your eye quickly locate things.. The contextual links were grouped far better in the old site.
Front page is just ugly and awkward, but maybe they'll improve it over time.

First thing someone said to me about it was that all the stuff they liked had gone.
It is a mess... But they've obviously No.1 gone for reducing the length of the page... Maybe it will work better for them after the teething problems.

Boy, it's much more difficult to nav. than the previous, there have got to be 225+ links on this homepage alone! Where are all the sections on the right? it makes cnn.com look down right beautiful...

well, i do like green... this might be a bit much, the grid system is nice, this is not so bad, again i think your right, just some color would help the eye know where to go to first the tone-on-tone thing should probably be rethought... but what's with the dramatic photos on both sites?

That front page for the BBC is just shooting themselves in the foot. They brand the news really well with that burgundy/cream scheme and then it doesn't appear on the frontpage... Same for sport etc... Put those colours on the frontpage and I'll click the links in a second...as it is I have to read so many links to find it...

Oh...looking at the news homepage now...it's growing on me. Hmmm... I think I'm a bit obsessed with this issue.
