I'm in GA, but really anywhere in the US is great...and if there is compensation involved: outside the US could be fun too.

tough to get international work - need visa
your best bet would probably be a company in NY or LA if you can find anything.
They are pretty much the hubs for the US

Make sure you have a portfolio with any study/experimental work you've done. Email it to companies/studios along with a short to the point introduction.
Also don't be afraid to do some cold calling on the old telebone.

it's better to start locally, unless your portfolio is amazing it'll be hard to get a job outside of the US.
The best way is to do cold calls, when I first finished school I called every new media company listed on the pages and had so many rejections I felt like killing myself.
Finally got one that will look at my work. I worked there for about 1month free before they started giving me paid work. I was lucky because the graphic designer there quit and started his own company. They basically gave me his job.
it's all about timing and luck.
best of luck

First of all... move to Atlanta... then... start hangin out with the 404 collective... then.. you'll meet a ton of people in the industry and probably get a good line on an internship.
Or.... just sign up for this Atlanta designers mailing list.
