it's 1 month and 4 days! So far I've gotten several emails on quotes and some contacts through friends. Also had a couple of interviews for Full time job.
I've been sending out electronic promos almost everyday now, but only a couple of companies have looked at it. I have redesign my portfolio again. Kind of sick of design. It pays shit!!

been semi unemployed since october. Liked it at first, hung out on the beach with my dog but am bored of it now, even started doing designs for free to keep the grey matter in check. I want fulltime again so i can go on the piss indefinately.
best of luck

I enjoyed the freelance until it dried up - I was going on about 6 months I guess...but it was tight you know....hard...that's why I bit the bullet, swallowed my pride, and started looking around for permanent again. Took a couple months but now I have found somewhere that I totally fit into and where I think I am going to grow and learn a lot.
Good luck dude - just keep plugging.....

I was mostly out of employ for nearly a year, but am now safely ensconsed in a 9 - 6. Aside from the massive debt I got into, the biggest downside was boredom. So just make sure you keep a routine of 'doing stuff'.
The freelance market's kind of shite at the moment, but the perm stuff seems quite healthy. If you're relying on agencies, just make sure you nag the fuckers - considering they're on commission, they're shitting useless.
Hope you have luck in your hunting - just make sure you enjoy the free time... while it lasts!

you're right there scotty, feckin agencies seem to be lame even the supposed best - major players are the lamest.
the problem i'm finding is that they want a 'specific' designer.
i mean ffs do they exist? they either want a web designer, a packaging designer, an all round designer, and i fall into all 3 of the above with added extras!where am i going wrong? i said i'm interested in going back into packaging, but have been working in new media; specifically idtv and branding for the past 2 years.
mind, just bought a PS2 and the getaway so am filling my time rather nicely!
ahh, hear that, there goes the next two months flying by!

Get campaign and go for the companies that are making a profit.
Don't get disheartened, it's luck not talent that enables people to get work
- unknown0
well yeh! if they're UK based.
i think it's a bit of both, luck and talent. persistence and contstant nagging helps too!cheers.
