Help... please.
what is the best format to export video to the web?... QT, Window media?...
... I need quality, speed of download... and GOOD AUDIO. I'm probably asking for alot...
... but for example - the video on the Apple website (the switch commercials)... they are so clean and beautiful. I WANT THAT. I need that. help help!

the QT ones on Apple are relativiely larger..
Are yuo streaminb it or just down load to view?
if you want to stream it QT and Win are both good options but need to create content and set up server as streamable..
if you want to reach everyday users than use Win
Qt stream tends to be more buggy (on my experience).
Larger resolution = larger file = better qulaity
BUT never use REAL

Quicktime has a somewhat better display performance tho...but not all Win machines have it installed.
The movies on Apple site are big...but they use an awful lot of whitespace and very good/nifty compression settings....that's why they appear bigger then they are (datawise).

I totally agree about Real... Real crashes my machine everytime I launch a video.
... can you elaborate on setting up a server to be streamable? Are (mt) servers good-to-go?
... these videos will have to be streamable... as our viewers are exceptionally impatient (very wealthy demographic that wants quality... and wants it now).
thanks for help!

4cy... do you know their (apple) compression settings? they're obviously exporting from final cut pro... but their settings!!! That's the help I need!
either premier or final cut... what kind of compression for both QT and WM?....
- MrDinky0
streaming video tends to have lower quality (or you make them lower quality)...
for QT server
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/p…dont for get to make your content streamable.

hmmm....not sure. Maybe we should summon the 'Fatty...he is an expert on this matter....
- MrDinky0
compression setting usually depends on size of resolution
FCP should have web setting on it and so does premiere...
it has been AGES since i used any video software though..

i agree. cleaner 5 (or 6, even better) is the way to go. all of the apple video is compressed with the sorenson 3 codec within the cleaner app.
FCP or premiere won't get it done straight off of the timeline. you need the flexibility to perform VBR compression and tweak things such as gamma and contrast, not to mention deinterlace all of the footage.
with quicktime's ability to "faststart", if you have your data rate set correctly, your viewer can watch the video as if it was streaming without having to serve it up on a streaming server.

cleaner is really a great app. The other day I was messing around and I exported this kindof large project out of flash as a quicktime movie.. I couldnt belive how fast it was and how small the file size was. I never knew that it was so efficient at exporting QT.
