..yeh, what sort of ratio of binder to ink is best?
..and the other problem I have is the t-shirt prints not printing properly - I usually drag the ink through two times to try and make it even, but in some places it doesnt always print properly even though the screen mesh is clear. - could this be the amount or consistency of the ink+binder ? - Its fine when printing non-fabric ...

are the screens warped or bent in any way? That would make the squeegee not apply the same amount of pressure across the entire image area.

troyy, where are you located?

Hey, very interesting thread. I found this PDF on this site: http://reddingk.com/ It's called Reproguide and it has a tutorial on setting up your on screenprinter, is this similiar to what you are using Troy?

hey TNDAP, that site was very nice. Im thinking about ordering some of those prints. Thanks alot for that.

The screens are fine - I think its just my sqeeugee technique or the amount of ink...or something similar.
I'm located in north lincolnshire..
why do you ask?TNDAP- I suppose my setup is similar but without the hinged screen for registration...
I constructed a UV lightbox from a big monitor box, and set the uv bulb inside etc...

Most of the equipment I have is from www.selectasine.com
I bought most of my printing setup from Snowtrooper on newstoday... and found some other parts at school... Things like inks, and foam to fit in the screen in exposure aswell as a sheet of perspex...

troyy this might be a dumb question but are you flooding the image area with ink before you actually squeegee it? If so, let the ink sit there for a second before pulling it back. that might help.

No , i put the ink next to the image area and then drag it through. - if i put the ink on the image area first then surely that would make it more uneven... - if thats what you mean.
- mrdobolina0
what I mean is, put a line of ink above the image. drag it over the image area, without putting pressure to the shirt or whatever you are printing on, let it sit for about a second and then screen as usual. its called flooding the screen. works well with shirts and other absorbant substrates. hope that helps you out troyy.

oh cool, thanks, if i have time i'll try it tonight...
I usually put a line of ink above the image and drag slowly with pressure the first time...
peace out

nice, hope that works out.

Flooding seems to work... I think before the ink/binder mixture was too thick since it had been sitting around for ages...
What sort of ratio do you mix the binder with the ink in?
Sometimes the print comes out transparent and wet... - I'm using opaque binder and standard binder for printing yellow onto red fabric.

I think that it varies from brand to brand. I bought a digi gram scale and had the manufacturer fax me the ratios. Nowadays you should be able to get most of this info online.
