just a quick non design Q:
I'ml ooking at the homeland security threat level.
Has the terminology always been about different risks of terrorist attacks or is that a post-9/11 thing?
- Danski0
I believe it's a post-911 propaganda tool.
"How frightened do you want to feel today?"
Incidentally, troops being deployed in london "just in case."
- lnu0
What, so the 'threat level' is an all new concept?
In that case, did it appear after 9/11 or just now 'cause of the situation in Iraq?
Just curious.
- unknown0
It was implemented after 9/11
Not related to Iraq
- lnu0
aha.
Thanks.

Trrops watching Heathrow in case of a rocket attack on a plane on Saturday......hmmm
now if you had a rocket and were supposed to be shooting a plane down at Heathrow, would you not be tempted to go to Gatwick, Luton, Stansted...Manchester, Glasgow or even bleeding Lerwick instaed of where the army are waiting for you???Proper gander Mr Blair, proper gander.

we've always had it..
in the UK, because of the IRA, we have always had the levels thing...
I remember going to Heathrow just after the IRA fired a rocket from the back of a van, makes the tanks and shit at the moment look small fry...

cant speak for other countries though

i'm flying from Heathrow to San Fran with BA tomorrow. just hope the propaganda doesn't go too far, and we decide to close the airport.
- vespa0
I keep seeing helicopters reflected in the window opposite - must be flying above Soho... I know a lot of it is propaganda but damn it's effective - making me nervous!
Even though you get helicopters all the time in London, now because of the hype it seems more significant...
- vena0
would you all agree that only an idiot would assume no reprisals from our buildup in the middle east?
if you answered yes, then you might want to consider this a little more than propaganda.
in the meantime, i'm gonna go to new york today and try and capture a terrorist with this butterfly net...

well im off to Cuba on monday from Heathrow, should be fun.
I'll just have to think of the cheap hookers at the end of the flight :o)

I am curious as to what happens if the level hits the top. The Red bar. Does that mean holy hell is breaking loose. I heard that is that does occur, you get shut downs of major transportation systems, the closing of public and government facilities, and the positioning of "specially trained" teams.
Oh joy,
bB
- Danski0
Vena has an interesting point, however this would constitute a "retailation" rather than an "attack" and is therefore still likely to be spun into something completely different by the media wizards in london.
- k0na_an0k0
i heard when it gets to red they call in the a-team.
- Biofreak0
A-Team = k0na and Bio on acid with bazookas.
