Well hey there kiddo's... Just feelin kinda down about the whole lack of jobs here in Chicago - I must have applied to over 30 different companies, very little response... Anyone out there have a few words of inspiration - or better yet, jobs? =c)

k. notoriously people are stupid. your homepage is all about humidors and if i hadn't read the bottom where you signed it i would have mistaken it for a wrong click.
i would suggest you make a personal portfolio page of your work instead of this. (if this is indeed the link you send to possible employers)
no political stances, vulgarity or other shit that doesn't belong on a portfolio.
if however you DO have a personal portfolio update it a bit and start making callbacks or sending second emails 'making sure' everything got there ok or calling to answer any questions or whatever.
also. check http://www.creativehotlist.com
they have some new stuff in chicago.
good luck.

k0na,
The site you saw is my side gig - starting an online cigar club/shop.
My portfolio is at www.kokioki.com/portfolio

does anyone use headhunters anymore?
i know they are pure evil, but they tend to get you in a place that otherwise was not possible.
- kokioki0
k0na - thanks for the comliments. Speaking of Buzz... i called them up last week and the rather friendly lady on their end brushed me off with a "we arent accepting portfolios at the moment, not enough work our there as it is.. etc etc"
Damn this city! Time to go into the cashier/clerk industry =c)

don't take aquent, you don't even know how much they charge the client, and you only get a small percentage for your work.

create your resume as a PDF and make it pretty.

"don't take aquent, you don't even know how much they charge the client, and you only get a small percentage for your work. "
Is that better than not having any work at all though? I'm thinking of trying them out, it's been a year since i had a full time job. And I need health insurance.
- IloveQBN0
go ahead, that is only my opinion. I think they are a rip and take advantage of designers.

30 companies? that is nothign my friend.
I have sent emails to over 400 agency side and client side design shops.
All of that and still a big fat 0.
It is tough. What is even more hilarious (because at this point I can't help but laugh at the situation. . .) Starbucks turned me away from making fucking coffee. I really wanted that job too. Oh well.
BTW, I am not exaggerating when I have said that I have tried to contact 400 co.'s. I hit major cities all over and found them via the firm list. Gotta love it!
Good luck.

kokioki-
I was recently in Chicago and interviewed for a position at a company that has an office there. Without getting into much detail, they are probably looking for more than just the job that I interviewed for. If you want any more info, send me email...

Saint, Why do you need to be contacted in order to see your portfolio work? Just curious.
- SAINT0
mrdobolina,
This is so my previous employer could not give me shit about posting work. Everything is legit, showing it and all, but still, I did not want to create an easy gateway.
BTW, when I contacted all of the companies, I sent them and absolute address that bypassed the main page. . .
Hope this makes sense.
