police at edinburgh airport are wandering about with machine guns strap[ped across their chests AND pistols holstered at their sides....how very Rambo
just imagine what would happen if you were to press the trigger of a machine gun in a crowded airport!!
scaremongering nonsense, either one weapon or the other but strolling around tooled up to the nines is just stupid, uniform or not.

what do u mean by 'scaremongering nonsense'?

Vent what I mean is;
if you want to protect people inside an airport (like the example of Edinburgh) then you'd stop all people outside and shift the bomb/ metal detectors to outside the terminal thus stopping any danger inside. Placing police who have as many powerfull guns as hands inside puts everyone at greater risk...BUT
it LOOKS impressive.....It is not designed to be functional but to leave an impression. Like I say a machine gun getting fired inside an airport terminal would be horrific, a guaranteed bloodbath pistols too are useless in such crowded situations....tactically seen you'd have to stop anyone BEFORE they got into the terminal......

what a load of shite...
but better to be safe than sorry. But I think if someone really wanted to blow up London, no tanks could stop it happening

exactement Kezza!
the best way not to get attacked??
- don't provoke.

If the public followed this through to a logical conclusion they would find that this action is a response to Tony's wish for war.
As OnD so rightly pointed out.
I suspect that Tony has taken his political gun and is now moments away from shooting his foot. As read on the guardian web site, Labour is now ONE point ahead of the conservatives (who?) in a latest poll.
Goodbye Tony.

just curious, it seems like it takes a lot more to whip up fear in Euros than it does in americans.
like they seem to know that government is controlled by greedy rich people and therefore take everything with a grain of salt.
bringin out tanks and all that shit seems extreme. if americans saw that they would shat their panties.
all you have to do in the US to whip up fear is to have some government official chimp mention there is a terror threat.
