could you help with a problem? I want to make a letter look like this:
and I have the original shape of an "O". How do I basically average the inner and outer path of the O to get a path which describes where the peak of the O would be.I can't get the average anchor points command to do this as i can't seem to select all of the outer points and just average them with all the inner ones. So I am thinking there must be another way..
thx..

I would just convert the font to outlines if the "O" isn't already a shape, copy then scale the middle path (inside of the "O") then eyeball it, then tweak the points with the direct point seletion arrow if necessary.
Just my 2 cents... many ways to skin a cat. Good luck.

thanks loopy, i've actually figured out something of a solution using scaling and averaging... It does require eyeballing, but it is going well so far.

I dont know what its called in illustrator but in FreeHand you would want to use 'inset path'.
Illy must have the same thing, if I've understood what you're after correctly that is.
