Being a fairly intelligent 21 year old student of new media (but at a primarily film school), i find that I have aquired a taste for the more "real" things that go on in the world. I need some suggestions for some real honest to goodness news sites/publications. I feel as though the news media is all a sham, and im just too damn uncultured to tell the difference. Now im NOT looking for drudgereport kind of stuff. More along the lines of Reuters, or Ananova.. or whatever strikes any of you as being truly newsworthy.

Although it has a LOT of shit on it, it also links through to some great independent articles and off-centre news..
..just make sure you get past the UFO abduction schpiel at the top of the page!

great observation.
check out this important website:
http://www.fair.org/media-woes/m…all media has bias, but mainstream advertiser supported media - the media with the most money behind it, is always going to present news in a money power friendly view of the world.
you need to check multiple sources to keep in the know:

http://www.csmonitor.com
http://www.npr.org
http://www.bbc.co.ukkeep in mind that even public state supported news like NPR or BBC are propagandistic in that they are underwritten by huge corporations.
