You want to stay busy in your place of employment in these days of economic uncertainty.
    Right?

My boss does keep me busy on a daily basis. This is a good thing in my eyes. I don't want to be sitting around doing zero.

Today though was another day in what is, to me, becoming a pattern. I am slammed with work and as I walk by other studio mates desks, they are surfing the web. Having a beer. I walk up to my boss to communicate through various facial gestures and ughs that I am stressed. She asks, "What's wrong?" To which I answer, this day has been crazy and I have been under constant bombardment. She answers with a slight grin, "It hasn't been that way for the rest of us." And then sips her beer.

Now to be honest, I feel I am on pretty good footing with her and we talk from time to time about issues going on within. So dialogue is open.

But how do, and I hate to say, refuse more work because of my current load, without coming across as the "I don't feel like doing that" kind of guy. Give it to someone else.

My boss is pretty fair overall. I just feel that my willingness to take jobs out of my arena on has been taken advantage of at the moment.

    Anyone?

    a maddening predicament...

I don't know what I'd do, but grabbing a beer sounds like a good idea. Not because everyone else is doing it... because it'll help you relax.
