Libraries in SE London

I've recently moved to South East London and I'm looking to join a good library. I live in the Telegraph Hill area (new cross gate) but I'm willing to travel if there's a better library further afield like greenwich or somewhere. Anyone got any reccomendations?

It might be a bit out of your travel area but Croydon has an absolutely gigantic library, multiple floors, tons of archives, computers, etc.
But since you're at New Cross Gate.. why not just head into London for the biggest library of them all? :-)
