Can anyone recommend some execises or tutorials, tips? I'm going to be laying out a "book, pamphlet" for work. I'm getting publisher files that have to probably be exported somehow. Any tips? Haven't really worked in it much.

make sure you learn about style sheets if youre doing a book, makes your life a lot easier.
Not sure about converting from publisher.

you'll probably have to copy the text into Text Edit and then import it from there. Quark was always picky with me when i imported stuff.
Yes, use style sheets. even better, use inDesign ;)

i don't think there is any one resource that will help you use quark overnight.

not overnight, kida like in a few days...you know general things, i'm sure it can't be that tough. is it harder to learn something like illustrator or quark?
