I'm sorry, but that's just cool.. the Mentally challenged are getting a turn to be hip and they LOVE it, just look at them. They even get to do album reviews. I think it's a good twist anyway.

Read my thread for a response to yours. :)

hehe yeah it great they wrote the articles too. Check out the one guy interviewing his favorite soap star - he keeps telling her he loves her through out it - the guys behind VICE are geniouses

I just hope they're not being made fun of. There was an artist who appeared at the Phoenix Art Museum last year who did pastel drawings of mentally challenged children. It was the most beautiful exhibit. He painted them with such dignity & such respect. They looked like angels.
These are the most wonderful people on Earth who live life with amazing simplicity & grace. They're role models, for sure. They pass no judgement.
Since I can, I would like to ask that people stop using the R word so casually. It's a really degrading word.

I bet you were all into that show with Corky back a few years ago weren't you? What was that called again?

something in me doesn't like vice making fun of them, but i feel like a hypocrite for thinking that as I don't mind it when people make fun of george bush for being stupid or bette middler for being really ugly. this acknowledges the mentally handicapped as being legitimate targets alongside everyone else in the world, so I guess you could say that in that way it's more respectful than giving them special treatment and painting them with wings (metaphorically).

The world can be so hateful. Strange how people only become less critical about things when they've had an experience of their own. Nothing wrong with that. It's just how life is. Kind of a shame.

you guys are reading to much in to it, the important thing is that these people's lives, whatever their disability, has been made more exciting and fun. I doubt they're all too bothered. Any disrespect is purely subjective.

yeah, it is a shame, brooke.

shame??? The agreed to be in it, the wrote the damn articles?? Why is it a shame if they were willing to contribute. They probably don't get many offers. Thanks to good ol vice for not discriminating against handicapped people

vice is nothing but satans monthly journal.
long live satan.

why it's bad:
vice uses these people because their readers think it's funny... because "retards" are funny.
vice doesn't use handicapped people for their editorial brilliance or any other such reasons.
they are guilty for promoting lack of respect for the handicapped.
- clayf0
and for those who argue that the mentally handicapped don't mind, how do you think their families appreciate the mockery?
