Studio Daniel Libeskind please. time to move in different direction downtown, i want me some skygardens...

I am not too crazy about both of them, but designing a new monument on that spot must be a very hard task.

Glad to hear people are in favor of Libeskind's scheme. I've been a big fan of his for many years, good to see he's gotten a chance to do something substantial in the States. Hopefully the LMDC and Port Authority won't massacre it.

well, mbr-
the LMDC, port authority will wreck it. but the biggest lame-o in whole process is Larry A. Silverstein. he is all about money money money. doesn't care about the architectural merit of the site. just wants all his lease space back.being that I am sitting two short blocks from the WTC, i don't think any giant buildings are logical.

im not getting it ... who wants to stare into a n enormous abyss everyday - i guess people DO KNOW, what happened there, one doesnt need a pathetic reminder.
PLUS it probably would be one of the most expensive moraline-heavy idiotics worldwide, considering the enormous prices in ny.
APART from that ... I think the design of the tower sucks and i would have wished for the folks over there to be able to overcome higher-faster-bigeer with class .. but well .. then again, its NY...

Libeskind was the final choice. Think is out, thank god.

Yes, thank God. But Silverstein has already begun the massacring parade, and that's even before SOM gets a hold of it (I believe the sky garden has already been axed). We'll be lucky to have anything resembling the original scheme the way things are going.
It's such a shame it's still all about money, a little 'sacrifice' for the preservation of the site and integrity of the design would have been a nice gesture (from an already loaded tycoon).
