OS X Icon Positions

Got a question for any Mac gurus. I've got Jaguar installed and can't see to figure out why my icons on the desktop reposition after every reboot.
Is there anything I can do to change this? This is my first Mac! (OH NO)

Do you have them to arrange by name or something like that? I think it's under views. I would tell you exactly but I'm at work(PC) and I can't remember if that's what it is called.

odd... turn off "snap to grid"

turn off your aranement, and set it to none, also you turn off your mac....hmmmm, it was built stay on forever hahahahahahaha

I originally set them to auto arrange by name. Then I turned that off. No snap to grid, no anything.
Argh, I just want my Mac to act a little like a PC! :)
