Is there a way to layout multiple pages in illustrator instead of one page?
How?

there's a plugin...
can't remember what it's called though... sorry...

go into document info and select tile full pages...
"plug in" my arse! err, maybe not

Yeah, I read up on that plugin (cant remember the name either sorry)
...I remember that the only way you could open the 'multi-page' files was if AI had the plugin installed. Since no printers I deal use anything like that I had to say "forget it!"

What plug-in? If you want two pages, create a document at 11x17 & "tile full pages." If you want three pages, 11x25.5.
And so on...

another question on this.....
Once you have the pages laid out is there a way to save it as a pdf and preserve the page formating? Or do you have to do that in Acrobat?

matt: yes, print a postscript file from IA and rip that through Distiller

It has always seemed idiotic to me that illustrator has not put that feature in (multiple pages). Freehand has had it for ever, and although I DO prefer illustrator, I have to wonder why they haven't changed that.

The hotdoor multipage plugin works by hiding and showing layers depending on what page you have selected in a bar similiar to the ones in indesign/quark... It also works with master pages (quite shabby support though). You can open them without the plugin installed, as it's just layers, but if you plan to send it to a printer, I'd export it as a multipage PDF (or separate and combine them later... probably a better solution). I used the plugin to make a 24 page document with high res images... I don't reccomend you doing so. It's just plain stupidity.

I just use layers. If you think about it, it works the same way.
