I'm actually a fan of 2A & their work. Just think that their particular style has a late 80's feel to it.

What location are you researching?
I'd say the biggest name in 1980s design would have to be Neville Brody. He is a British graphic designer that was prolly the first designer to reach pop status (or sayeth the graphic designers). You'll find tons of information about him, as he was the foremost design that helped popularize the digitalilzation of typography with the advent of the Apple computer.
Similarily, although Ian Anderson became more popular in the 1990s, he (and tDR) did work back in the mid 1980s. They've published their works, so I would suggest making a stop at your nearest design bookshop.
It's not a link or image, but two names to give you some food for thought.

When I think of 80's design I think pastel colors & Nagel prints.
Remember Nagel?

Photography work of David Hockney, Charles and Ray Eames design, etc.
When someone says "80s design" for some stinkin' reason i keep seeing those duran duran album covers w/ the lineart women's faces and the vibrant neon streaks of color. LOL
