I just bought this today after deciding iPod and the like are way too fuckin expensive

i wish i could say i was happy for you kingkezza. but my 10gb iPod was worth every penny.
not only can i bring 2000 songs with me... but i can use the drive for files, including utilities.
the iPod nearly paid for itself last night when i was doing a freelance tech support job.
- xrusos0
that said... my 10gb is maxed out... so i'm giving it to my father and upgrading to the 40gb... assuming prices stay similar. (and i'm sure it will be worth every penny too)
- sephil0

I sent my 20GB ipod in to Apple for repair 2 weeks ago. It is now 10 days late being returned to me. The people at Apple say that the replacement 20GB iPods are on backorder with no ETA. Sounds like an update is around the bend. They have been weird on the phone. Kinda like they are not telling me the whole story. Hope I get an updated one.

they're searching the HD for weapons of mass destruction.
- xrusos0
yes, http://www.powerpage.org seems less encouraging about iPod updates. although, they don't give details, and are rather unsure of timing.
and although we have yet to hear of the update, http://www.macwhispers.com seems to at least have some sort of facts behind it's article. i'm giving it till the 11th before i think about what to do next.
i do hope that when they do come out i won't have to wait for 2 1/2 months to get it ... like i'm waiting for my 17" PB.
(latest is second week of march for my order!) ouch.
- xrusos0
(why wait?) you ask?
well... turns out i discovered an error on the macwarehouse site and got a free battery along with a free 512MB of RAM with my PB. i got a screenshot and everything and after a couple emails i found myself with a bunch of free stuff... with 0 tax... so i wait... and wait...
- Loopy0
I'm considering an iPod soon...
Will the price on the 10gb come down from $399? If so, I'll wait a while longer.

new info today from http://www.macwhispers.com/
actually, the article link is:
http://www.envestco2.com/macwhis…here's the summary:
---------------------
iPodWith information available from packaging, plastic moulding, and assembly plant vendors in the iPod's manufacturing chain, you would think MacWhispers would have, by now, drafted a clear view of what's coming for Apple's little MP3 player. And, after some confusion about the inclusion of FireWire 800 caused by a now-realized false information feed, we do now have such a clear view.
What we now know for certain is that the new iPods will be released in February, will not see changes to the product packaging (still white plastic and stainless steel), will have capacities of 10, 20, and 40GB, will have the two smaller models with the same thickness as the current (thin) 10GB model, will have the 40GB model with a thickness matching the present 20GB model, and will not include built-in Bluetooth nor any additional non-music features. Prices will remain as they are now, but with that money buying twice the hard drive capacity of the current models.

any new word? this wait is driving me batty!
