If an ad calling for a production artist asks for C.V./resumes and specifically asks that you don't call... how do you know your resume won't get lost?
It is so competitive I am just wondering how to stand out from the herd?

attach a picture of you doing the bull dance.... they'll never forget you.
or dress up in a buh-nah-nuh suit

DESIGN your cover letter and resume to stand out in a crowd.
Put a post it note on the C.V. and write 'note to self: call blah blah blah for an interview ASAP' on the bottom put (place on monitor)
it's the little things that people remember.
oh, nude photos work well too. i did that once.... never called back. officer smith did though... nice guy.

actually, make sure your resume is informative, but very brief... if the position is really popular, the person having to go through all the resumes won't waste too much time with a 2-3 page novel.

In your email client, request a return receipt to make sure the email arrives.
In your resume, put a link to your site to a specific directory with a redirect to your normal site eg. www.yoursite.com/new
Look at your site stats/logs to see if that URL has been visited and you'll knoe they read yoru resume AND looked at your site.

mick, i do that to... great idea!
and in addition to redirect you could also append info to the query string with their email address as a parameter
ie:
mysite.com/default.htm?src=resum...
