do you think clients / potential care about design / advertising awards?
and if so, which ones are the most notable in your opinion?
discuss...

A theory: photography awards are great for photographers because art directors and designers see them... design awards less so because other designers see them.

A client doesn't give a shit about advertising/design awards, priority number one... did it work and has it sold the used cars in my forecourt. If it did work..then it had nothing to do with design...it was my Salesman that sold the cars in the forcourt. A client will never admit to having good creative or design..fact.
But hey I'm just a cynical creative whose never won anything, not for the want of trying.

These awards are fairly big in Europe. Traditionaly a back slapping fest for the ad execs and creatives. I would say they do count for potential clients since the publicity is fairly grand.
A potential client is always going to want the best...therefore awards do make an impact.

I think this advertising festival is just an excuse to go to Cannes and drink a lot.
