So I just picked up a reason and I'm having hell of a time getting my hardware to work with it.
Basically I have a keyboard that I'm using as a controller for my drum machine.
I want to be able to sequence in reason using my drum machine samples
I can get reason to detect my keyboard but I can't figure out how to get my drum machine working in Reason
Anyone?

Reason does not output any midi data. So If you are trying to get Reason to control your hardware drum machine you are out of luck.

hmmm - I'm a little confused - I'm using the keyboard to control the drummachine (module) which sends signals to reason. Or that is what I want to do
Is not possible to use external modules with reason - am I stuck to using the software synths?

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by your "drum machine samples"
Are you using the Redrum module as your drum machine? if you are, you can control it with your keyboard.
Add the redrum module to the "rack". Then, In the track / sequencer window, you have to click on the track (to the left of the track name, e.g. Redrum) to set the midi icon active. Once this is active you should be able to play redrum sounds with your controller.
Hit record and you can even record your drum pattern live to the sequencer track, then quantize, duplicate tracks etc.
Reason only accepts midi input, in order to send control / midi signals out to other devices, you'd have to use Cubase as your main composition app. Then use Reason as a VST sound module. (via rewire)

Make sure that your drum machine is set to the proper M.I.D.I. channel .. and set
the parameters to: 'slave, and receiving'.

ahh okay - so if i have an external drum machine, I can't use it in reason? I have to use cubase?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's just a software studio with midi sequencing capability only for internal modules. Could be wrong tho, there might be a way to make it work.
I use cubase for external eqipment sequencing.

thanks for the help g -- I'll try cubase -- this shit is so complicated to just hook up! hehe
Reason has like 3 or 4 manuals with it and they all read worse than stereo instructions

it was allready said, but ill say it again.
Cubase!
use cubase.
all my tracks, are on cubase, all of the reason synths i control them from cubase, its better like that and you have more control, plus, you can use cubase effects on each midi track so your music is less robotic, and it has better quantizise options.
