email marketing & search engine b.s.

Have any of you run into folks who are soliciting businesses for web design but they aren't designers, rather "email marketers" or "search engine specialists"????
Twice now I've had business owners say to me, oh, we have this guy who does email marketing doing our site. what the $@%! I've also had a "search engine expert" sit in on a meeting and attempt to dictate to me how to design a site.
Personally I feel like anyone doing this type of work in and of itself, without working in conjunction with a team of web people is a vulture and a fraud...what do you think?

i think it is pretty funny that there are professional Search Engine Experts out there - How do I get into that line of work.

No kidding. I don't get it. They usually know nothing about conventional marketing strategy either...go figure?!
It's funny until they convince your client that they need to be hired to consult YOU the web designer on basically how to do your job. God help me, I need a vacation.
