I think the us wouldn't give a fuck if they quit the un or nato, they've dropped out of every other major pact they've been in like the non-proliferation act and kyoto accord to name two.
they have this us vs the world attitude and it sems to me that they beleive in their bizzare moto of " the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many"

OK, I've got a theory. Let's say Mr. Bush ain't that stupid, or rather, the puppet masters aren't that stupid, and they planned this all along. So we look like gun swinging cowboys lookin' for a fight, not listening to anyone, and doing what we want because we can. Now let's say that provokes more pressure on Iraq, on the UN, on the weapons inspectors, etc. So we actually are getting inspections done, the world is looking at Iraq closely, and when we walk away without a war, Lil' Bush will say, ' see, I told you we would get what we wanted' and it will look like a genius bluff.
If we didn't go to extremes and threaten war, no one would care, certainly not Hussein, the UN would remain as complacent as ever, and nothing would ever be accomplished (as is the history of the UN and Europe's complacency). It would be a win/win situation for the US, and really the world.
Now that is my EXTREMELY optimistic scenario, but so far it looks like a possibility.
