Ive come to the conclusion that graphic design is no longer for me... If I was to think of an alternative career what would you recommend? Have you ever been in the same situation? Did you have a change? If so how did it go? Any urls/info/advice would be truly appreciated. Please excuse me if I dont reply straight way. Im up to my eyes in work....
many thanks...

I am currently putting together a student book of art direction (ad) work. I say student because none of it is real.
A whole different world from design as I am finding out. Kind of like starting over at age 28. A bit scary but worth the risk.

i got to thinkin the other day...
ya know the graphics industry is HUGE. there are sooo many possibilities and different aspects of it that you could literally do something different for every year of your life.
so... maybe if you do still like gfx, then you might wanna think about getting into video games or something. it is easy to get stagnant when you do the same shit over and over.
i started in print, then went web, now in signs/posters. i plan to move to something else in a year. =)
i hate sitting still. and i hope that you find something you dig soon.

maybe you just need to explore some of the other grfx industries out there. i mean... you have print, web, video, audio, cd rom, interface design, kiosks, video game design, interior design, furniture... maybe you just need a change of pace ya know.
- Biofreak0
bam. there ya go.
k0na agrees so... so it must be the truth... heheh.

don't you work for Form?
that's s pretty cool place to be isn't it?i get hacked of all of the time - the only thing that keeps me going is my personal project work.
- matt240
I've worked in the Video Game industry and it is pretty healthy nowadays with all these platforms.
Ever consider Video editing? I always see lots of postings for editors.

Hmmm tricky. Looks as if Form do some interesting work. Do you not a chance to work in different areas like video etc?
Are you annoyed because you don't have enough freedom? It'd be tough to be an artist and make cash. Perhaps a job out doors. Maybe in forestry, but you'll need to train.
If you want to stay in a creative field, what about trying to get to do more Creative Direction or Art Direction?
Looks as though you've got tough decisions to make, good luck.

Thanks for the input everyone. Just a quick note as Im busy and once again Im gonna be at work all night. I just hate it. I hate clients I hate the way we have to kiss arse. I hate the way the client gets their own way for 90% of the time. Im just not passionate about it anymore and I think its all bollocks. It bores me.
I want a life outside work, at this rate I may as well move in.......FFUUUCCKKK!!!! I need to get pissed!!! As you can tell im very pissed off. Make me feel better ;P

Don't quit phubar!
Otherwise "designers" like this become the norm:

Have you come to this conclusion because of your clients or is your heart not into it anymore? If the clients or the kind of work you do is to blame then it is not design that you should quit. Perhaps look for other options as a designer.
But if your heart's just not into it then of course you should try and look for a career that makes you happy.
I hope things work out for you.
