What is your method for making a mix CD? Do you just throw a bunch of music together haphazardly, or do you map it out beforehand?

The amount of thought and care put into creating somethig is relevant to the quality of the final output.
this is possibly the best mixed cd ever. Listen and learn.

I'll second that Coldcut mix...a pure classic...
...mind you the Solid Steel Presents (mixed by DK) is as good..if not better?

I'm not talking about mixing. I'm talking about making a mixed CD for a friend. You know, kind of a compilation of your latest favorite music. I take it very seriously. Takes me a few days to map out which songs I want to add and in what order.

Making someone a cd compilation is a truer statement of your feelings for them than words could ever bring. making a nice cover is fun too.

A friend of mine used Pro Tools to mix the tracks together (fade outs..etc) and burnt them onto cds purchased at http://www.5inch.com
They made good presents.
