don't you find it at all ironic that the govt makes us feel like we're doing the good thing by ridding the bars of smokers...
doing this publically, like it's saving so many lives, but corporate america is polluting more than ever...
it wouldn't bother me to lose some of my personal libeerties, if it looked like corporate america was losing some of theirs as well.
this by the way is from a non-smoker.
what's the next thing the govt picks on?

"to be honest i couldnt give a fuck what non smokers think of my habbit, "
...that's when sexypixel then flicks his cigarette at his monitor, only to have it land on bed setting fire to his room.

Anything to get rid of tobacco and the companies that produce that death trap.

I, i always use my computer while in bed

toqueboy, I think corporate america is starting to lose some of their liberties, for example Eliot Spitzer, Attorney General of NY is busting up the brokerages who lied to inflate prices.
- unknown0
don't believe the hype. brokerage firm breakup is cosmetic. the rich people are getting richer in this fucking country.
- rd110
well somebody's got to be able to afford the raising price of cigarettes.
;)

ha ha. let em die from it.

you non smokers should also realise that its smokers that generate the most revenue from taxes, so, in a way, if it wasnt for smokers you wouldnt have any sidewalks for use to throw our butts on
- monokrom0
sexypixel ... I'm thinking that the govt-footed medical bills (Medicare, Medicaid) that dying smokers tally up near the end of their lives more than compensate for the tax revenue.
- unknown0
yeah those tax revenues are only a recent phenomenon too. we had sidewalks a lil longer than the last 8 or 9 years now...

you guys are really missing the point. why in the hell should the city control weather or not bars can have smokers in their establishments.
That's a real load of shit. If I owned a bar, and I'm a smoker, then i want people to feel free to come into my establishment and light up, enjoy their beers and have a great time.
Non smokers can have a section if they need it or they can find a beer elsewhere.
I don't see anything wrong with setting regulations and giving non-smokers some room, but I really think giving those of us who enjoy our vices and pay in tax and breath a big middle finger is really shitty.
I know my smoke is killing me, and I enjoy the thing anyways. I mean if you want to find some kind of justice, then let me smoke a joint in public and outlaw cigarettes... Until then it's all BULLSHIT.

here in L.A. if the bar is a family owned place you can smoke...so i guess you need to finda place that is family owned... :}

it's such a bullshit really. I've never been to America, though tried several times. :) But every time I read something about it and hear people talking about their country - I am feeling more and more happy that I live in Europe.
If I come to New York, I have to buy a pack for like, what, 7.50? and then try to find a place where I can get my dosage!? wtf? That's freaking ridiculous, guys. What was wrong with the "smoking"-"non-smoking" areas in the restaurants? Were the non-smokers still inhaling the smoke? Well, then that's definitely NOT smokers problem, but restaurant's. I can freaking smoke here, in Europe, everywhere. cy will understand me. It's just recently that Deuthche Bahn (Railroad) banned smoking all over the place (literally) and marked smoking areas for those of us who buy a pack for $3 and throw buts all over the place. And you know what?! Nobody freaking cares and everyone is happy - smoker or non-smoker. Just live happily and don't exhale in the neighbor's face, damn it - that's a simple rule.
Sometimes I think, the States are just so progressive, that they are catching us up from the other side....

this will make NYC a cleaner sterile town than it is today.
my opinion: its clean enough!imagine NYC's bars without smoking artists and creatives hanging around. just propper well suited people who are working in banks, assurances and advertising companies who are doing clean and correct campaigns for clean and correct banks.
imagine living in country where everything is clean and correct and whre tese kind of people are telling you what to do.
HORRRRRROR!im so proud to live in dirty europe!

xflixi, BEEMO 2 phenominal points.
1. This is new york fucking city. It's clean enough doesn't scratch the surface. NYC is a dirty, grimy place, which is exactly why we love it.
It's why I came here, and I expect to be able to work till 7am and go somewhere and blacken a lung.
And Beemo, we're definitly whining about a petty law like no smoking, but that's why we live in this wonderful shithole of a county. Because in this nasty grimy piece of shit that everyone else hates, we have full rights to talk as much shit as we want about how the place is run.,.
And once in a great while.. (especially if you can get the right people on your side) you can even change things...
