I've got it. And someting needs designing quickly. Arse. Anyone got any good ways to deal with it?

just get some inspiration and get to work

It's not really that simple. I've got to make an e-flyer. I've been handed a print flyer and been told to take inspiration from it. The print flyer is shite.

If you have a spare moment, get out and completely change your scenary. Go someplace you've never been before.

I'm about to go out and meet a client so maybe I'll have some ideas on the way...

Stand on your head and get a different perspective of the world around you...
...or run into a wall head first and knock the idea out of you.

fish the idea out of your head with a pencil

I think my main problem is that the guy who made the piece of work which I'm supposed to be taking my inspiration from didn't bother to have an idea.

Turn off the computer, have a look at some design books, get out your notepad and start sketching, writing, doodling etc. If that doesn't work I suggest you quit and become a monk.
