Effective use of our site

    Howdy,

Every year or so I redesign our company website. And every year I am satisfied that I have given my company a site that they can be proud of and represents their best interests.

So here is my hangup. I feel like the site is not being used to its full potential. Yes, I can make it designy and flashy and easy to use. Our company info is on there. So is our work which is ultimately the most important item. But is that enough? Is there something more that I can do to elevate the site from a "show and tell" status?

Or, in your opinion, is that the ultimate purpose of the site? Where people can visit and quickly get the info they came looking for.

I guess what I am asking in all of this blabber is this: What new ways can we effectively use the allotted space that is given us on the World Wide Web? Anything that goes beyond the normal elements like "Company Info" and "Work" and "Capabilities."

What else can we do that will break out of the mold? And in the process, attract new and potential business prospects.

If this didn't make sense, it has been that kind of day.

thanks and I am open to all suggestions. Except the ones that would get you arrested or sued.

This is a good topic but it sounds as though you need to direct it towards a consulting firm or something. The answer depends exclusivley on what type of business it is, it's goals it's market, it's inventory if any, it's image etc. etc. etc. To speak for myself I only really need to deal with the show and tell type of page cause I only deal with images anyway. What's most important is developing a relationship and communicating with those who actually see it. That's how I get more business prospects not by adding special functionality and interactivity for people I never meet or do business with anyway.
